Buxus microphylla ‘Green Gem’ globes are a cultivar of Buxus microphylla, commonly known as Japanese boxwood. They are grown in a globular shape, and are often used in landscaping as a formal element in a garden design. Buxus microphylla ‘Green Gem’ globes have a compact growth habit, and produce small, glossy, dark green leaves. They grow slowly, and can reach up to 3 feet tall and wide. Buxus microphylla ‘Green Gem’ globes prefer well-drained soil and partial to full shade, and are often used in landscaping as a hedge, border, or topiary. They are also a popular choice for use in container gardens.
