One of the older Japanese maple cultivars. Outstanding foliage color throughout the seasons. New foliage is a deep crimson-red when unfolding but turns to a dark-purple red. Excellent shade of dark red that holds until late summer. Autumn color is bright scarlet. Does well in both heat and humidity. This hardy plant has a strong cascading form.
